The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality head-mounted display, created by Oculus VR. The product first started from a kickstarter campaign which Oculus VR raised over $2.4 million for the development of this product. The rift has a resoloution of 180×1200 per eye, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and a wide field of view.
The oculus rift can be used on most first person games to make the virtual reality experience even better, when your head turns left or right, your in-game point of view will also move to that direction, the movement also works for up and down. The posistion of the user’s head is tracked with a system called “constellation”, which consists of an external infrared camera.
Recently, Oculus VR have released their Oculus Touch which is an addon for the rift. The touch are a pair of controllers are used for each hand in the game you are playing; the left controller controls your character’s left hand, your right controller controls your character’s right hand – the Oculus Touch is not included with the rift and is sold separately.
